A sub-field of ecology that deals with how individual species of populations interact with their environment is population ecology. The concept recognizes that a species is an organized group of organisms, in our case human organisms into a population. Scientists can tell more about a species of organisms through testing the population, because the population will have commonalities with the individual. Populations of a species will have a certain genotype, which is part of the genetic makeup of the cells of the individual. Population ecology studies the demographics, and interactions between populations that coexist with each other.

Often the effects of population ecology is observable, there are characteristics in physical development, and in behavior. The information gained from the population ecology studies are used in many areas, including the field of forensic profiling. Crime scene investigators (CSI) collect samples from a crime scene. Once collected the samples are examined. For instance, murder victims may have something belonging to the perpetrator on their body, such as skin under their fingernails or hair. Because this type of ecology deals with a species, the sample that was collected at the scene of a crime can tell the sex, approximate age, and ethnicity of the suspect. All the information can be found through testing tissues on the cellular level. Once apprehended the evidence from DNA testing can be enough to put the criminal away for a long time.

Population ecology can account to how criminal profiling works. Criminals that have certain personality traits may have a certain way they operate during a crime, this is called method of operations, which is called m.o. for short. Many criminal profilers are psychologists and use psychological models that had their start from renown doctors such as Sigmund Freud, and others. CSI investigators from the FBI are trained by the Behavioral Science Unit, the main division is in Quantico Virginia.

Behavioral science researchers work very closely with the basic concepts of population ecology. The philosophy can be applied to police science, criminology, and even the study of terrorism and how to fight it. The study has biological, psychological, social, as well as criminal aspects.

To create a profile the CSI team will collect evidence at a crime scene, such as hair, fibers from clothing, hair. The investigators collect anything that may be possible evidence, such as a weapon. They collect fingerprints if there were any left at the scene. Next, the team looks for patterns associated with the crimes. Next the investigators attempt to reconstruct the crime, based on the information that has been collected. The profile is made when all the steps of the investigation have been completed. The science of population ecology has pioneered the path, so that the criminal profilers can predict the age and sex of the suspect, and they may be able to pin down the possible motives for the crime.

Restoration ecology is the science of renewing and repairing a damaged or destroyed habitat or ecosystem. The practice has been around for thousands of years, but the word restoration ecology wasn’t coined, nor did become a science with research studies until the late 1980s.

Conservation and restoration ecology not only benefits wildlife, but it also benefits us, because the different ecosystems provide us with water and air purification, climate control, decomposition of waste products, while providing us with food, water, timber and fuel. For wildlife and humankind to flourish there needs to be a balance in the ecosystem and conservation ecology helps to maintain that balance because we maintain and restore ecosystems, rather than deplete them. The science of restoration ecology has taught us how to create a sustainable environment.

Careers related to ecology are everywhere. You may be interested in a career in the study and prevention of air pollution, biochemistry, or conservation ecology. You might be interested in the earth system sciences, geotechnical engineering, or civil engineering. There are a myriad of opportunities in the field of meteorology, space and planetary sciences, and much more. The concept of restoration ecology touches almost every career choice, including surveying, petroleum engineering, agricultural sciences, and much more.

If you are interested in a specific area of ecology you can find information on the Internet. For instance if you are interested in atmospheric science you might want to train for a career in meteorology. You would attend a university and earn a degree in meteorology. Your courses of study would also include computer and environmental sciences and chemistry. One of the biggest employment opportunities comes through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

An example of restoration ecology touching the field of meteorology you would be able to save lives by making accurate forecasts. You would interpret weather maps and read computer images that come from radar scans and satellite photographs. Restoration ecology is related to almost every environment and every career choice.

Often damage is done to vast areas, as well as small communities by the wind, rain and flooding that comes with severe weather. A career in meteorology can be rewarding because you can be partly responsible for saving lives. For instance, when the alert was given to Galveston, Texas to evacuate when Hurricane Ike was on its way, it was because meteorologists marked the path of the storm. Galveston is now underway with plans of being restored though the efforts of restoration ecology programs. Government programs such as FEMA are helping people with food, water, and places to stay while the restoration takes place.

Human ecology is a combination of studies, concepts and disciplines that is related to the interrelationship between human beings and their environment. An environment can be natural, created , or social. In other words human ecology studies how we as differing societies interact with nature, with each other, and with our surroundings. Human ecology is related to the disciplines of psychology, sociology, and anthropology.

In a workplace, such as a factory, the environment can be relatively stressful. Often measures are taken to make the workplace a more comfortable place to be. Studies show that when people are calm and happy they are more productive in the workplace.

As human beings we often have disagreements or conflicts with people who think differently than we do. Often, when we are trying to decide who will be the best leader for our country we find ourselves at odds with their philosophies. Whether we are disagreeing over who should lead the country, or who should lead a committee problems arise, and it is the preface of the discipline of human ecology to find commonalities between people and their communities, governments, and environment.

Human ecology is related to economics, spatial development and other global concerns. In essence human ecology is the scientific and social studies of human life. Human ecology is incorporated into everything that affects us as human beings, right down to the nutritional requirements that an individual needs to be healthy. We interact each day with people, not only face to face, but also on the Internet. You will find the study of human ecology wherever you find people. The environment in which we interact with others could be physical or virtual.

In the workplace human ecology is a major part of the code of conduct, as well as safety rules and regulations. We are civilized human beings, therefore we are expected to interact with others without trampling on the rights of others. Rules are put into place so that we interact with people in an appropriate way.

As humans we strive to understand our place in the environment. As individuals, we may all feel differently about nature. Many feel that we humans are supreme beings, and have dominion over all of nature and the environment at any cost, while others have a profound belief that they are the caretakers and stewards of the environment. Human ecology gives us standards of what is beneficial and acceptable interactions between societies, and between society and nature.

As we know better, hopefully we try to do better. We should always be mindful of the rights of others within our society and those of other societies. We also have an obligation to be good stewards of the environment. We have a right to use the natural resources, but at the same time we need to preserve and sustain the environment for the generations that follow us.

Animal ecology is the study of animals and how they relate to their environment. Scientists and researchers study the behavior of animals in their environments, for instance an animal ecology researcher of birds would focus their studies on their behavior, reproduction and parenting, dispersal and migration. They would study how birds of different species live in the same areas, and how they interact with each other.

Animal ecology researchers that study marine life will focus on marine plants and animals and how they interact with each other and their environment. Many marine animals and plants live in symbiotic relationships, meaning that they benefit from their relationship with each other. Marine animals and plants also have symbiotic relationships, for instance the Pompeii Worm lives within the tubes of the hydrothermal vents in the deep ocean. The worm is able to flourish within the extreme heat of the hydrothermal vents due to the bacteria that lives on it’s back. The bacteria have a symbiotic relationship with the worm which gives the worm a protective fleece-like coat. Another marine animal, the squid has a symbiotic relationship with microorganisms that produce light. The squid can scare away predators by firing off intense light from the bacteria. The bacteria are luminous and the squid can light up at will.

People that are interested in careers in animal ecology have a vast array of areas in which to work. Whether it has to do with birds, pets in the veterinary field, exotic animals in a zoo, wildlife, or marine life, there is a course of study for you. There is a career for you. As for your education, you may need to have a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree. Some career choices may require degrees as high as a Master’s degree or a Ph. D., depending on the field of work you have chosen. Men and women who are trained in the field of animal ecology are also trained in the fields of biology, zoology, anthropology and sociology.

If you are interested in a career in animal ecology, you might want to become a teacher. Most universities require a Ph. D, but many smaller colleges require a Master’s degree. If you want to teach in high school you may be able to teach animal ecology with a Bachelor’s degree. Teaching is one of the most competitive jobs for animal ecology, because students training in veterinary medicine, animal science, animal conservation and other fields of study will be taught the concepts of animal ecology.

You may not want to teach, you may just want a career working with animals. You might want to work for a veterinarian as a veterinary assistant. You might want to be a care taker at a zoo. Whatever career you want to pursue in the field you may have to be certified through programs associated with animal ecology. For more information you can do a search on the Internet, or visit your local library.

The time to teach children about ecology is when they are very young. Parents often teach their children about the relationship between ourselves and the environment when they are old enough to understand. We teach children to recycle so that waste will not end up in the landfills. We teach children to pick up after themselves at a picnic so that plastic bottles, bottle caps and plastic rings don’t end up in the stomachs of the fish and wildlife that frequent the area when we have gone home.

At home and in the classroom we can teach children about ecology by teaching them respect for all forms of life and their environment. Wouldn’t it be exciting to teach children about oil spills and the harm that spills can do to the fish that live in the water and the wildlife that depends on the water for food? Wouldn’t it be even more exciting to teach children how to clean up an oil spill? Teaching about oil spills and their clean up will teach them about ecology, a lesson they won’t ever forget.

Here is an easy experiment to teach small children a lesson in ecology, related to an oil spill. Take a tray or roasting pan that is at least an inch deep. Line the tray or roasting pan with stones all the way around to represent the shoreline of a lake ocean. Now pour some sand all the way around the rocks and in front of the rocks to further represent the shoreline. Now carefully pour in some water until it reaches the shoreline. Now if you have some feathers to represent birds place some in the water and around the shoreline. Next if you can get some motor oil, or even some mineral oil, carefully pour it into the water to simulate an oil spill, which is something you hope never happens to the ecology of the oceans and lakes. Now place a fan in close proximity of the experiment and turn it on. The wind will cause a disturbance in the water, moving the oil around. The oil will saturate the feathers in the water and reach out toward the shoreline.

Now to clean up the oil from the feathers gently wash them with Dawn dishwashing detergent. The feathers will come clean. You may have seen commercials for Dawn dishwashing liquid, where ducks were rescued from oil spills and they were cleaned up with Dawn dishwashing liquid, a lesson in ecology. Next, to clean up the oil spill from the water place some clay kitty litter around the shoreline. The kitty litter will absorb the oil, and gradually the oil will leave the surface of the water and become entrapped within the kitty litter. If this were a real oil spill in the ocean there may be other methods used to clean up a spill.

A picture is worth a thousand words, that is an old saying that rings true in this instance. You can talk about ecology, but until a child can grasp the concept they might not have a full understanding of what ecology means.

We have only to turn on our TV sets to hear something new in ecology news reports. Before Hurricane Ike ever hit the great state of Texas it hit some islands in the Caribbean. There was a beautiful flamingo population that lived on the Bahamian island called Great Inagua. The flamingos are gone, 30 were found dead, and the rest just vanished.

Hurricanes cause so much damage, because they destroy everything in their paths. When Hurricane Ike hit Galveston many animals were rescued by the volunteers. We have learned from past disasters how the animals were left behind to fend for themselves. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and the levees broke causing the massive flooding many animals were left behind because the rescuers made the people abandon their pets. Animal ecology news reports kept us informed of the animal rescues. Many people might say it’s just a dog or a cat, but a life is a life. Who is to say that human life is any more sacred than animals lives? Now with more awareness of animals right to live, more of an effort is made to save animals when a disaster hits. So many animals died, but so many were rescued and many were reunited with their owners. Some animal victims never found their previous owners, but were given new homes thanks to the efforts of shelters and animal ecology news reports.

It is terrible when a disaster causes the loss of animal life, and their abandonment, but what is even worse is when people just don’t care enough to maintain a good home for their pets. Some people throw away pets like they change their clothes. Many people move to other places of residence and just leave their pets behind. Thanks to animal ecology news people are getting the message that it is against the law to abandon their pets. A pet that has had you to take care of it all it’s life isn’t going to know how to take care of itself. Hopefully as we become educated through the efforts of animal ecology news reports we will take better care of the animals who depend on us. If you must give up an animal don’t just release it to the elements. A cat, dog or other pet that has lived inside will either become prey or a predator and life will be lost. If you must leave your pet behind take it to a shelter where it has a chance of being adopted into another home.

Thanks to ecology news reports that touch the hearts of people many animals have found loving homes. Many animal victims of disasters such as the hurricanes Gustav, Ivan and even Katrina made national news. Thanks to caring people and animal ecology news reports more animals are finding loving homes.

Ecology Auto Parts is the junkyard to end all junkyards, it is a chain of junkyards where you pick and pull the parts you need off cars in the junkyard. By purchasing auto parts from Ecology Auto, you are saving money and recycling too.

The cars at Ecology Auto Parts are parked in group sections. You won’t have to hunt all over the yard for the car you need. Just bring your own tool kit and pay the door man $2 to enter the yard. Get busy and pull off the part you need and then just pay for it. You will do well to call Ecology Auto in advance if you need a part, the manager may be able to show you to a new arrival, or what some call a fresh kill. If you need a fuel pump, air conditioning compressor, or some other high dollar part you have a better chance of getting the parts you need from a car or truck that hasn’t been picked over already.

You can save lots of money by visiting a junkyard like Ecology Auto Parts. Considering the prices in the auto parts stores these days, you would do well to visit a yard like this. The prices of the auto parts at this junkyard are extremely low because you pick and pull the parts yourself. Check with Ecology Auto about their prices.

Ecology Auto Parts is one of the largest self-serve yards in the Southwest. The yard takes old cars that arent roadworthy anymore. By recycling your old car you are helping the environment by controlling pollution. By buying your auto parts here you will save on average 80 percent of what you would pay for new or reconditioned parts at a traditional auto parts store.

The company doesn’t just sell parts, they will sell you a car, or they will buy your car if you so desire. If you are a trucker, you are in luck because Ecology Auto Parts sells parts for the big box trucks, tractor trailers and semis. The yard is open 364 days a year rain or shine from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific Time. They are only closed on Christmas. Each store has a clean up station, so after you pull your part you can wash your hands before you come to the counter to pay.

When the vehicles are picked clean they are then sent to a crusher and shipped overseas to have their metal shredded into small chunks where they can be melted down into sheet metal. Many manufacturing companies use recycled metal to make new materials. This is a great way to keep the environment clean and sustain the earth for the next generation.

If you need a part and there is not a vehicle in the yard just like yours, the company will give you a printout of vehicles that have parts that are interchangeable with yours. Many vehicles use the same parts, the office manager has a list of every car made that interchanges parts and there is no charge for this service.

Forest ecology is the study of the ecosystems, as well as the fauna and flora of the forests. The ecosystem of a forest includes the microorganisms, as well as all the plants and animals. The scope is to preserve the forests. In California the redwood trees are many hundreds of years old are are gigantic. Researchers document and record the life forms that live in the forest, and record the species that live together in harmony in the trees and on the ground.

As a forest ecology worker you would be concerned with taking inventory of the forests. You might work as a game warden and count the number of species of wildlife. You might be concerned with vegetation and soil structure. You might also be concerned with water quality. You also might be concerned with environmental variables such as wind speed, and solar radiation.

As a forest ecology worker you may also be concerned with biomass, because forests produce large amounts of biomass. Under the right conditions forest fires can erupt. As biomass accumulates in the forest from falling leaves and dying vegetation. Some of the vegetation becomes oily and very flammable as the plants biodegrade, wildfires can result.

As an ecology worker you would be concerned with how forest fires start. A vast majority for forest fires are started by people, though a small percentage may be caused by lightening. Often people that live around forests burn off refuse and debris, and then the wind shifts and the fires get out of control and spread to become wildfires. Campers are urged to put out campfires with water and then cover with sand to prevent forest fires. As a forest ecology worker you might be responsible for documenting the probable cause, frequency and size of forest fires.

The science of forest ecology teaches us, that through photosynthesis, the trees of the forests remove a vast amount of carbon from the air. If there is a forest fire, and the biomass that lies on the forest floor burns, carbon dioxide is released back into the atmosphere which increases the effects of global warming. The more we can understand about the effects of forest fires on the environment, we can learn to become more cautious in how we interact with the forest environment.

Through the efforts of forest ecology studies laws have been formed to protect the forest environment. As a forestry worker your job may to be to observe the interaction of hunters and campers in the forests. You may have to see that the local laws are enforced. So many people don’t think to extinguish their cigarettes and just the spark off a lit cigarette could be enough to start forest fires.

If you are interested in a career as a forest ecology worker, there are a vast array of jobs listed on job boards on the Internet. One of the websites associated with careers in forest ecology is the Ecological Society of America. For more information about careers in this field just make a search on the Internet.

What is Ecology? Any time there is a word with ology at the end, it means the study of. The beginning of the word ecology eco refers to household. In this case ecology is the study Ecology is the study of organisms, whether they are animal life or plant life and how they interact with the environment. An environment isn’t only the air we breathe, but the ground and groundwater of the earth, the deserts, forests, rain forests, and the oceans. The essence of what is ecology is affected by primarily by pollution caused by careless human beings.

We as parents and grandparents have a duty to teach our children the basics of ecology. When your children ask what is ecology, this is the time to teach them why you ask them to recycle. Recycling preserves the environment, by keeping plastic, glass, aluminum and paper out of the landfills, thereby eliminating tons of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere. When we don’t recycle it makes more waste to accumulate in the landfills, and as the waste is processed more pollution is released into the air to cause global warming.

What is ecology testing? Scientists conduct experiments not only in laboratories, but also in forests, wetlands, deserts, lakes and oceans. They study the effects of pollution on the environment and the animal and plant life. Through the years of study scientific experiments have led to discoveries that developed techniques to help preserve our natural resources, wildlife, and aquatic life.

In order for the human species to survive we have to be concerned with ecological systems. The question: What is ecology must be answered and understood. In order to sustain the lives of future generations of people we must make changes in the way we treat our environment, or we will strip the earth of all her natural resources. We have an obligation to the earth and to the generations that come after us to change the way we think about ecology.

What is ecology in association with green power? We have a duty to change our thinking about everything we do, including how we power our homes. We have a choice to purchase green power from our power company. By purchasing sustainable energy we are preventing greenhouse gas emissions from entering the atmosphere. The more pollution that is released into the environment, the more the ecology is threatened.

What is ecology ? Ecology is the study associated with preserving the environment, while taking measures to prevent pollution from destroying it. Whether the study is about the effects of insecticides used on mosquitoes that affect the bird population, or the effects of global warming on the polar bears, there is a common thread that unites us to preserve the environment so that it will sustain life in the generations to come.

The science of social, economics and ecology sustainability has provided new ways to make the future better for the generations that follow us. Over the years we have learned to do better with the issues that are important to the survival of humankind due to sustainability studies. We have learned to make use of sustainable forms of energy, rather than depleting our natural resources. Researchers are continuing to use the concepts from the studies to make plans and working models to promote a sustainable environment. The environment could be a work, sociopolitical or natural environment.

Scientists and researchers work together to discover how social, economics and ecology sustainability impacts the environment for the good of humanity. Without taking measures to save the environment now one day there will not be a suitable environment for the generations that follow us, however, by taking measures to reduce the amount pollution that comes from the use of fossil fuels, we are helping to slow down the destruction of the earth’s environment.

Social, economics and ecology sustainability is a global issue. The ecology has to do with sustainable development which has to do with human needs while preserving the environment. Social, economics and ecology sustainability has to do with economic, sociopolitical, and environmental sustainability. Part of the issue of social, economics and ecology sustainability has to do with the global issue of poverty. With poverty comes hunger and homelessness, and no one should be forced to go hungry, or to not have a place to lay his or her head at night.

Social, economics and ecology sustainability has to do with every issue that affects us. It relates to global warming, it relates to socioeconomic and sociopolitical issues. Due to the efforts of sustainability studies approaches are being instituted to reduce poverty. Laws are instituted to require businesses to employ fair hiring practices with ethical treatment of employees, a fair wage must be given for work preformed.

Social, economics and ecology sustainability studies relates to everyone around the world. The green movement has helped to bridge the gap between all the people and all the cultures around the world. Due to social, economics and ecology sustainability studies many countries are producing sustainable energy to the point that fossil fuels are no longer used in some countries. The studies have to do with social and environmental concerns around the globe. Making our world better starts with us. It starts with just one and then another and another. If we all start at home and teach our children to do the same we each can make a difference in how we treat the environment and how we treat each other.
